When she shared her philosophy with Paula, it was a natural fit. The rest is history! Renee pours her heart an soul into breeding these wonderful little dogs. Paula is thrilled Renee is seeing Chapala Bay carry in with responsible, caring breeding.
The Beginning - Paula's story
When our circumstances changed, and we had the time to have a dog, I researched many different breeds. My husband had never had the joy of having a pet before, so I wanted to make sure the transition was smooth. We were looking for a breed of dog that was small, sturdy, hypo-allergenic, not nervous, who required some, but not an excessive amount of exercise. We also wanted a lively, intelligent dog, but not a hyperactive dog.
After a lot of research, I came across the wonderful Coton de Tulear! They were everything we had hoped for and more. They are packed with personality. They are ever enthusiastic, and game for anything. They are happy and exuberant, and an absolute joy to have around. We laugh every day. The Coton is noted for their cheerfulness. They have been dubbed the "anti-depression"dog of France. Cotons are known for becoming very attached to their humans and are very adaptable. This began my love affair with the Coton de Tulear.
We are firm believers in responsible breeding. We are a Code of Ethics Breeder with the Canadian Coton de Tulear Club. We also belong to the CFC (Canine Federation of Canada) and CKC (Canadian Kennel Club).
We are firm believers in positive based training classes. Paula's interest has grown so much that she took a dog training course at the Animal Behavior College to become an ABC certified dog trainer. Training gives an extra special way to increase communication and strengthen the bond with your dog. Check out our Training Page to learn more!
You can also find us on our Chapala Bay Cotons Facebook Page. I do update my website more than my FB page. We have a secret Chapala Bay Family Group for our puppy adopters. If you have a pup from us and haven't joined, please send me a note for an invitation.
